 Careers Offer

Careers Education Information Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) at AKS

CEIAG is taught within The Personal and Social Development (PSD) offer at Alderman Knight School. This is largely based around the PSHE Association SEND framework and this supports schools to provide a comprehensive PSHE programme that integrates, but is not limited to, this new statutory content. For CEIAG, this is then enhanced by use of the Job Explorer Database and a series of lesson that use this and the SEND PSHE framework to equip the pupils with the necessary skills, information, advice, guidance and documents (CV etc) over a suite of lessons within the topic of the “World I Live In”. This is delivered in term 3 (just after Christmas).

How we prepare our pupils for moving on from school

In Year 11, our pupils have important decisions to make about their options. We start the decision-making process early to help them prepare for transition and make their choice.  Our leavers go to a variety of settings after they leave depending on their needs and home location.

The thought of leaving school can be daunting. To help ease the process, we ensure everyone has the information, advice and guidance they need, and planning starts early.

The school employ Mr Sheppard as Transition Manager.  Mr Sheppard can give impartial advice and information about all post 16 options and works closely with local authorities to support the transition process.  Alderman Knight School has a good relationship with local colleges and opportunity providers which is so important for a smooth transition.
