The Friends of Alderman Knight School - Registered Charity No: 1028866

The Friends of Alderman Knight School was founded in 1992 and exists to fundraise money which is used to enhance the learning environment and provide extra-curricular opportunities for pupils at Alderman Knight School and their families.

The Friends is run by a committee, comprised of staff, parents and members of the local community, who are elected annually at our AGM. Committee roles include the Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, as well as general committee members. Our Annual General Meeting and accompanying coffee morning is an opportunity for families to meet members of the Friends committee and each other.

Throughout the year, the Friends organise a number of regular and one-off fundraising events, such as the annual Christmas Cheer event and raffle, our Summer Fair and coffee mornings. Other previous highlights include an Auction of Promises, quizzes and bingo.

Using the money raised, the Friends host social events for pupils and their families, for example hiring out Malvern Splash swimming pool and Cattle Country Adventure Park for an evening, and an annual day trip to the seaside or West Midlands Safari Park.

Funds are also used to purchase items for pupils’ use at school – like picnic benches and utensils for the Lifeskills Flat – and to host a Christmas disco and gift Christmas presents, to secondary and primary pupils respectively. Finally, the Friends pay for coaches to transport pupils and families to events, like the Young Voices Concert and our annual Cribbs Causeway shopping trip.
